“Giant Grove” is the wooded trail area at the southwest corner of Pomerado and Avenida Magnifica.  This trail has been closed to all pedestrian and bike traffic due to safety reasons, as large dead trees have fallen and continue to do so.   At the request of the Scripps Ranch community, the City of SD’s Park & Rec Dept has hired a contractor to remove large dead or dying trees to restore this trail’s safety and upgrade its usage capability.  This work will begin Monday (11/9) and continue for approximately 2 weeks.

NOTE:  The contractor will be supervised by the City of San Diego Park&Rec Dept’s Maintenance Assessment District and an Arborist who will review and approve all large tree removals.  This work is not associated in any way with the City’s prior Brush Management work within 100 feet of residences that has been reported on in our SRCA Newsletter, and is currently still on suspension while being evaluated to achieve a proper balance between required tree removal and appropriate fire safety.
