Come enjoy a casual atmosphere, contemporary music, and motivating messages from Pastor Jack Hawkins, a well-known conference speaker. Jack's messages will make you laugh and think while building your relationships with family, community, and God.
During December, Pastor Jack will start a new series titled Unscrooged. We've all seen at least one version of A Christmas Carol detailing the life of Ebenezer Scrooge. This tale portrays the life of a man who missed the point and wasted his life. Our world is filled with people who live life and miss the point. So this Christmas season, we will look at Christmas from three angles to make sure we make the most of our years.
We also have a fantastic Christmas program called Finding the Christmas Star. It will be performed by the children and youth of our church on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4 and 6 pm. In addition, we will have a Christmas Eve service on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 4:30 and 6 pm.
Canyon Springs Church offers quality programs for infants through high school age that provide a safe environment in which to experience God's love. We have Sunday school at 8:30 and 10:30 am. We meet at Marshall Middle School, 9700 Avenue of Nations. Contact us at 653-3664 or [[email protected]], or visit [www.canyonsprings.org].
St. Gregory the Great's annual Adopt-A-Family program is well underway for the 2008 Christmas season. This program provides gifts to families in our sister parish, Our Lady of Angels in Sherman Heights, who would otherwise be unable to afford Christmas gifts. Last year gifts were provided for about 950 people in more than 150 families.
Paul and Colleen Dorin have coordinated St. Gregory's Adopt-A-Family program for four years. If you want to help with this program or would like more information, contact the Dorins at [[email protected]] or 486-7166.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 pm St. Gregory's hosts an Advent Evening Retreat presented by the Whispering Winds Women's Auxiliary. The cost is $10 per adult and $5 per teen or child. The guest speaker is Mark Price, who will do a theatrical presentation of the gift of Christ through the eyes of St. Joseph.
