Retired Seniors Volunteer Patrol are our community extra eyes and ears for the police in a non-confrontational and non-enforcement role. RSVP has donated 334,000 service hours since 1994. They patrol in specially marked cars at each of our schools, parks, libraries, and retail centers. RSVP is asked to help SDPD officers in certain situations to free up officers to return to the field. The volunteers also perform home visits and vacation security checks with prior arrangements (see below). You can help us by volunteering to be a RSVP, engaging and rewarding.
How you can join RSVP to help patrol & requirements:
Have a valid California driver’s license, 50 years or older, retired or semi-retired, go through a background check, spend one week at an academy learning what to do and what not to do, and donate 3 ½ days a month.
Board members: Chair-Marvin Miles, Secretary – Bari Vaz, Ted Brengel, Larry Brady, Bob Ilko, Wally Wulfeck, Olester Brandon, Joe Frichtel, and Jim Schulte – RSVP Administrator.
