SRCA Schools Committee

The Scripps Ranch Schools Committee is now the Scripps Ranch Civic Association Schools Committee. The Schools Committee asked the SRCA Executive Board to become reaffiliated with the SRCA under its current bylaws, and the board agreed. The committee met in September and resolved some long-standing housekeeping issues. Members are now eager to work together to explore issues important to our community of schools.

Rick Novak, Marshall Middle School principal, filled us in on the city-wide middle school Design Task Force that is now meeting. The design committee specific to the new Marshall Middle School has yet to be formed. The Schools Committee has a list of people interested in serving on the Marshall committee.

If you would like to volunteer for the committee, please email either Joyce Berzle at [[email protected]] or Denise Ouellette at [[email protected]]. More information should be forthcoming by the end of the year. The new Marshall is currently slated to open in fall 2006.

The Schools Committee voted to change its meeting day to avoid conflict with other civic groups. The new meeting day is the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are usually held in the Scripps Ranch Library meeting room from 4-6 pm. All members of the community are encouraged to attend.

There is time for public comment at the beginning of each meeting. The Tuesday, Oct.15, meeting will include a presentation of the latest demographic data from all the schools.
