My name is Audrey Ball and I completed my Girl Scout Gold Award. I have lived in Scripps Ranch my whole life and can remember the community rebuild after the 2003 and 2007 fires. The focus of my project is on wildfire preparedness and teaching others about the dangers of fire season in Southern California. I worked with the Scripps Ranch Fire Safe Council and Outpost Summer Camps for their first part of my project to create a workshop that taught middle school campers about the previous fires and how they can prepare their homes for fire season. The next part of my project has to do with sustainability and spreading the information I have gathered around the community. To do this, I am planning on creating informational binders that will be placed in libraries around my community.
