It’s Your Turn!

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” Muhammed Ali

The Scripps Ranch Civic Association has “paid its rent” while serving others for 45 years. What does that mean to you?

It means you live in one of the most desirable communities in Southern California. It means you have an advocate at City Hall when there’s a development project and the community needs to speak out about it. It means you have someone to help you with a neighborhood problem. It means you have volunteers willing to work night and day to put on amazing community events, and so much more!

Now it’s your turn to “pay your rent.” How? Join the Scripps Ranch Civic Association. That’s all you have to do! Your membership allows this amazing group to do the work that translates into a great quality of life. It’s easy and affordable! So please JOIN NOW! Either return the letter you received in the mail or go to the SRCA website at []. It’s your turn to give back!

As I mentioned, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association is comprised of volunteers who help our community. And we know there are hundreds of other volunteers who make Scripps Ranch outstanding. Years ago, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association decided that volunteers needed to be thanked and created Recognition Night. This SRCA event is coming up, and now it’s your turn. Whom should we honor this year? We all know someone: the coach who comes to a game feeling less than stellar because he or she does not want to let the kids down. How about the Scripps Ranch Civic Association volunteers who help with a community event—the 4th of July Parade!—and start before dawn to ensure a successful day for you?

I could go on and on. I’m sure you know someone who gives and gives and never asks for anything in return. It’s your turn! Fill out the form on page 7 and send it in or go online to []. Everyone nominated is recognized.

The Scripps Ranch Civic Association also has standing committees that you may not realize affect you and your family:

  • Scripps Ranch Schools Committee—we advocate for our top-notch schools and work to keep them among the best in the entire county.
  • Sustainable Scripps Ranch—during this drought, learn how to get a water-wise, beautiful yard. Don’t miss the Low-Water Landscape Tour of Scripps Ranch homes. Details are on page 11.
  • Scripps Ranch 50 Plus—we work to help seniors stay in their own homes and enjoy life to the fullest.
  • SRCA Community Garage Sale—a date has been set, see page 17.

I have devoted my entire column this month to try to show you the direct impact the Scripps Ranch Civic Association has on your daily life. Now, it’s your turn. If you aren’t an SRCA member, please tell us why. We really want to know! Just drop us an email at [[email protected]] and give us your input. Thank you!
