Passed away peacefully at age 78 on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at his home in Scripps Ranch, surrounded by his family. Lee’s parents, Anna and Joaquin Silveira, were immigrants from the Azores Islands, Portugal. Lee was born on October 15, 1931 in Mountain View, CA. At age four, the family moved to Point Loma. Lee attended Point Loma High School where he played football. Lee served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant from 1953 to 1955 and drove tanks for his commanding officer. Lee also achieved a meat cutter’s license. He then worked in the Tuna Fishing Industry as a Chief Engineer for 44 years. Lee became a Ham Radio Operator in order to call home often. Lee’s greatest source of pride was his family. Lee and Celeste “Sally” were married on October 2, 1955 at St. Agnes Church, and blessed with four children: Linda (Vito Giglio), David (passed away in 2008), Deborah Ann Seiter, and Donna (Patrick Adams). Lee was survived by seven beautiful grandchildren: Nicole, Michael, and Andrew Giglio, Rachelle Bonesteel, Jocelyn Varner, Joseph Seiter, Ryan Silveira, and one adorable great-grandchild: Arianna Bonesteel.
