
Ivor Paul Lemaire, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on March 4, 2023 and went home to be with the Lord. He was a longtime resident of Scripps Ranch in San Diego since 1970. He was born in 1934 in Kingsbury, England to the late Maurice and Hilda Lemaire.
He emigrated to the United States in 1950 with his parents and brothers, Barry and Nigel.
Ivor was a jolly good English man and a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all who had the pleasure to know him. He had a great sense of humor, infectious laugh, beautiful singing voice and a lovely smile.
He enjoyed stamp collecting, crossword puzzles, trains, drawing, gardening, hiking, watching Sci-Fi movies, and sports, playing tennis, wearing Hawaiian shirts and spending time with his family.
He was employed in the Civil Service with the Navy for 36 years in the Naval Command, Control and Ocean Surveillance Center Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Division and retired as a member of the senior Executive Service.
He started the Scripps Ranch Schools committee and was president of the Scripps Ranch Civic Association. He founded cub pack 616 and was Chairman and Cub Master for 8 years. He was also involved in the Indian Guides and Little League.
He was a role model as a Christian and shared his love of Jesus Christ with others.
He always treated everyone with kindness and respect.
Ivor had great joy in knowing he was saved and that God chose him for eternal life.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His lovely wife of 62 years, Joan, daughter Jenifer, sons James and John. Brother, Nigel, son-in-law John White, daughter-in-law Betsy Lemaire. 6 grand children; Justin, Joshua, Aaron, Adrian, Jaden and Avielle; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Ivor was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Hilda, brother Barry and son Jeffrey.
He will be deeply missed.
A family memorial service will be held on April, 14, 2023 at Singing Hills Memorial Park in El Cajon, CA
