Birth: July 14, 1965 John David Martinez passed away on May 25, 2011, at his home in Scripps Ranch surrounded by his family. John was born July 14, 1965 in El Paso, Texas, to Ralph Martinez and Rena Flannagan. John is survived by his wife of 22 years, Theresa, and his two beautiful daughters Olivia and Rachel, his brother Michael, sister Teresa, nieces Sophie, Rhianna and Isabella, nephews Max and Tommy, and stepfather Jim Flannagan and stepmother Nina Martinez. John had over 20 years of experience working in the health care information technology and services industry and held a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. John enjoyed traveling, playing golf, listening to mariachi music and watching University of Arizona basketball and his Pittsburgh Steelers with his pals on Sundays. Above all, John was a loving husband, kind father, fun uncle, great son, brother and devoted friend who was loved and admired by all that had the honor to know him. He was always warm and friendly and never afraid to express his love for his family. His generosity and devotion to his family were an inspiration. His smile and positive attitude even during the most difficult times were a testament to the type of person he was. People who met John instantly liked him. John always made you feel important and at ease and showed a genuine interest in all who he met. A public memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Saint Gregory’s Catholic Church, 11451 Blue Cypress Drive, San Diego, CA 92131, at 11:00 a.m. A gathering celebrating John’s life will take place on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Callahan’s Pub Brewery, 8111 Mira Mesa Blvd., San Diego, CA 92126. In lieu of flowers, friends of the family requests that monetary donations be made to an account in support of his daughters’ college education.
