As 2004 begins Scripps-Mesa Bible Church, in partnership with "Abiding in the Vine," invites you to take a day or weekend to be still and know God. We are offering two retreats to give you a chance to withdraw from the frantic pace of life and connect with the living God.
The retreats are held at the San Luis Rey Mission in Oceanside. The one-day retreat is Saturday, Jan. 17, and the weekend retreat is Friday through Sunday, Jan. 23-25. Each retreat gives you an opportunity to refresh spiritually.
Through Jesus' death and resurrection, we have access to God. These retreats are designed to help you take advantage of what Jesus has offered us. For more information, please visit [www.abidinginthevine.com].
In the fall of 2002 a few people on the Ranch began gathering to sing some of our favorite old-time hymns. Soon, a common desire began to emerge among us--we wanted to take these hymns to the people who loved them who are living in nursing homes.
One year later, with 10 performances under our belt, we find ourselves involved in a thriving ministry to the elderly known as the Scripps Ranch Gospel Choir. The choir is open to all singers who have a heart for encouraging people near the end of life's journey.
Rehearsals for our next performance will be 6:30-8:30 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 14, and the next four Wednesdays. Programs in four area nursing homes will be at 1:45 and 3:15 pm on Sunday, Feb. 8 and 15. Help put a song in someone's heart! For details, call 693-3346.
Christmas may be over, but the celebration of the Savior continues. His message never changes: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matt. 11: 28-30
