Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary–Scripps Ranch
On Sunday, Apr. 12, from 1 to 5 pm we will have our “Cheers to Rady’s—Get on Board” beer tasting bus tour event. Tickets are still available at $50 and include bus transportation to Lost Abbey and Latitude 33 breweries, beer tasting, and food truck munchies. The bus will pick up at 12:30 pm from the Scripps Poway Parkway Park ‘N Ride lot near Wendy’s. All proceeds benefit the Audiology Program at Rady Children’s Hospital. For tickets, contact Janet Mebane at [email protected]
We thank Jersey Mike’s for its incredible generosity. In early March, 30 different stores gave 20% of their proceeds to Rady Children’s. Later in March, 100% of proceeds were contributed to the hospital!
We welcome new members at any time during the year. We renew our annual dues starting Wednesday, Apr. 15, for next year. Now is an excellent time to come see what the auxiliary is all about and make terrific new friends while contributing to a wonderful philanthropic organization. Hidden Valley House Auxiliary
The Hidden Valley House (HVH) Auxiliary extends a sincere thank you to the many people who volunteer at the shelter for victims of domestic violence and to those who donate items mentioned in this article each month. The shelter staff said they currently need lotions, shampoos, hair conditioner, size 5+ socks for boys, and baby products including diapers, wipes, and lotions. The Scripps Ranch collection points for donations are the Scripps Ranch Library and the home of Ellen Hawkins at 11528 Wills Creek Road.
The Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library (SRFOL) is cleaning its “attic” and will take part in the Scripps Ranch Community Garage Sale on Saturday, Apr. 18. We welcome your tax-deductible donations of items to sell and raise funds for our library. Please ask at the library or contact [email protected] for details. Stop by on Apr. 18 to shop for treasures, as well as at our concurrent book sale.
The free monthly film series, sponsored by the SRFOL, continues on Wednesday, Apr. 15, at 7 pm with a screening of the 2014 film Calvary. It’s an impassioned moral inquiry blending passion play, black-hearted farce, and detective story. Film appreciation instructor Ralph DeLauro introduces the film and moderates the post-screening discussion.

Scripps Teasers Toastmasters
Congratulations to former member Ashley Grey for finding an attorney job in San Francisco. Before leaving San Diego, she wrote a thank you letter to our club president, Akemi Rogers: “I wanted to take a moment to thank you for running such an amazing club. I cannot fully express how much Toastmasters helped me. I can say with absolute certainty it is one of the reasons I received the job offer from the firm in San Francisco. I have learned so much…and I will miss you guys on Thursday mornings.” Scripps Teasers meets every Thursday from 7 to 8 am at the SRCA Community Center. Guests are welcome. For more details, call Akemi at 693-8643 or visit teasers.toastmastersclubs.org.
