Scripps Ranch Planning Group (SRPG)

The Scripps Ranch Planning Group (SRPG) did not meet in January. However, there are updates to share.

Rancho Encantada/StoneBridge Estates Inclusion in the SRPG

Our subcommittee is working on revising the SRPG bylaws to include Rancho Encantada/StoneBridge Estates. As a reminder, in December the SRPG voted unanimously to include the Rancho Encantada planning area in the SRPG. This will require review of the new bylaws by the city attorney, action by the City Planning Commission, and two hearings and votes by the City Council.

Scripps Ranch Traffic Issues

There is a serious problem with excessive speed in many parts of our community. Residents should observe posted speed limits. Remember, if there are driveways fronting on the street, it is most likely residential and the speed limit is 25 mph. We will plan a special campaign to remind residents of the speed issues in the Ranch.

In addition, several residents have noted deteriorating traffic situations during rush hours. A new subcommittee and both Councilmember Mark Kersey’s and Assemblymember Brian Maienschein’s offices are working with the city and Caltrans to alleviate some of the problems.

Scripps Ranch Technology Park

The Murphy Development Company is submitting plans for Lots 7 and 8. New buildings will conform to the original plan. Our group will vote on the Substantial Conformance Review at our February meeting. Our ad hoc subcommittee, chaired by Gordon Boerner, continues to work with Murphy on community planning issues for the Technology Park.

Other Development Projects

The City Planning Commission approved the Carroll Canyon Apartment Community Plan Amendment Initiation on Jan. 15. There was no news on the Continuing Life Communities–The Glen at Scripps Ranch Senior Living Project. We will review the its Draft Environmental Impact Report when it is released.

SRPG Elections

At our March meeting each year your SRPG elects members to two-year terms. Ten of the 20 members are elected each year. To vote or be a candidate, you must live, work, or own property in our area and attend at least two meetings in the previous year. Nominations will be made at our February meeting. If you’re interested, contact me at the email below.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7 pm in the Scripps Ranch Library. Citizen input is welcome. For questions, email me at [email protected]
