Scripps Ranch Planning Group (SRPG)
SRPG March Election
At our March meeting we elected 10 of our 20 members to new two-year terms. Julie Ellis and Tamar Silverstein were newly elected to the group. Stuart Gross, Bob Ilko, Marty Lorenzo, Jenny Marshall, Marvin Miles, Robert Petering, Don Ringel, and Marc Sorensen were re-elected.
Two members, Jenn Blake and Paul Vaughan, completed their terms as members. We thank them for their service to our community.
MCAS Miramar Update
Colonel Jason G. Woodworth, USMC, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) commanding officer, described new signage to mark base property. It is to warn potential trespassers that going onto MCAS property is unlawful and dangerous because of live firing and unexploded ordinance.
A new trail is under consideration from Gooden Ranch down to Mission Trails. Entrance will require a free permit to use the trail. Also, Col. Woodworth noted that the new Joint Strike Fighter (F-35) will be coming to Miramar. Over the next 30 years, three new hangers will be built. Finally, the MCAS Fire Department is working closely with San Diego city and county fire agencies.
SDG&E Transmission Line
Todd Voorhees, SDG&E’s regional public affairs manager, gave further updates about the project. His contact information is 619-756-3578 and [email protected] SDG&E is working with the SRCA on traffic plans to reduce the impact of construction. At press time the contractor selection was still ongoing, so a firm schedule was not available.
Rancho Encantada Precise Plan
At our February and March meetings, we considered updates to the Precise Plan for the Mission Trails Master Plan Update and a Natural Resource Management Plan.
Carroll Canyon Draft EIR
In February the SRPG submitted comments to the city on the completeness and accuracy of the draft environmental impact report. Please see www.scrippsranch.org for details. Several issues, including safety and evacuation, were not adequately addressed in the report.
