Miramar Ranch North Planning Committee (MRNPC)
San Diego County Water Authority—Nob Hill Project
At our April meeting we heard a report from representatives of the San Diego County Water Authority concerning their plans to relocate two of the pipes running underground between the Nob Hill and Miro/Ravel communities. The two pipes will be consolidated into one pipe that will be buried more deeply. The purpose of this upgrade is to relieve potential pressure in the pipes, which will in turn reduce the risk of future pipe failure.
The means and methods of relocating the pipe have not yet been decided. The project may require tunneling or trenching and backfill. Either way, there will likely be controlled blasting to assist with the excavation and trenching required. The Water Authority will host a scoping meeting at the SRCA Community Center, which will have occurred by the time this Newsletter is published. The scoping meeting will be followed by the Water Authority’s preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The report will be open for public comment once it has been released, and we will provide additional information once the report is available.
MRNPC elections scheduled to be conducted at the April meeting were tabled to our May meeting. If you own property or a business in the MRNPC boundaries and have been to at least two committee meetings in the past year, you are eligible for election to the MRNPC. Two residents have expressed interest in running, but there are additional vacancies. We encourage your participation and insights.
The MRNPC usually meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at the SRCA Community Center at 11885 Cypress Canyon Road. The next meeting is on Tuesday, May 7. All meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend. If you have questions or concerns, please email MRNPC chair Dustin Steiner at [[email protected]].
