Cubs Sail Away!
Cub Scout Pack 614’s June meeting will blow the boys away! They’ll use their own wind power to sail their personally created boats down rain gutters. Then at the end of June the scouts will promote to the next rank at a bridging ceremony.
May was fun as the boys wore Star Wars costumes to learn about stars, planets, and space. Kevin Baird led the talk (above) inspired by “May the 4th be with you!”
Congratulations to Bobby Colburn for placing third in the district level San Diego 500 Pinewood Derby race. For how to join, visit www.Pack614.com.
Troop 616 Canoes the Colorado River
Troop 616’s campout last month was a canoeing trip down the Colorado River (pictured below). Each canoe had two scouts: one in front to provide the power, and one in back to steer. It was a lot of fun, and scouts brought water guns and squirted each other if they got close.
Max Audick and Nick Pickett earned Gold Palms for earning 10 merit badges after receiving their Eagle Scout award and remaining active in a leadership role.
Justin Leighty was honored with the Order of the Medicine Pouch award for his time and effort helping the younger patrols. In addition, Eagle Scouts Max Audick and Nick Pickett received Medicine Pouches for their service to the troop.

Troop 664 Scouts Honored
Troop 664 had a month of great achievement and prospering scouts. Clayton Jerlow (below with Scoutmaster Blan Cox) attained the Eagle Scout rank. For the past six years Clayton has worked hard to achieve the highest honor in Scouting and he got it. Congratulations, Clayton!
Alex Porier and James Porier also are worthy of acknowledgement as they had their Eagle Scout Courts of Honor. They shared their achievement of completing their award with the troop and their friends and family. Congratulations to them!
Besides this astounding progression in the troop, scouts visited the Scout Fair and build a trebuchet. They also took a joyride down the Kern River as they went whitewater rafting and had a blast!
If you are interested in coming to one of our meetings, we meet every Tuesday from 6 to 7 pm at Innovations Academy at 10380 Spring Canyon Road. For more information, please contact our scoutmaster, Blan Cox, at [email protected]
