Learning and Having Fun!

Last month was busy for Pack 616. First the Bear den visited Suzie’s Farm near Imperial Beach, where they learned about organic sustainable farming and got to sample lots of different fruits and veggies. The Bears also took a trip to Juvenile Hall in Clairemont Mesa where they learned the consequences of not listening to your “Akeela.”

The Tiger scouts visited Fire Station 37 in Scripps Ranch to learn about fire safety and our community helpers. Westley Moore also become an official Tiger. Congratulations, Westley!

The pack took part in an important Memorial Day event at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. To honor veterans, the scouts got up extra early to place American flags on the graves as the sun came up.

Troop 8430 Secures Silver

Cadette Troop 8430 stepped up to the Silver Award challenge with great community projects. Ashley’s love of history led her to hang portraits of George Washington in local schools (below) to increase our connection to history. Her project was even featured on the local news!

Artists Emma and Nancie (left) helped beautify Marshall Middle School by painting benches across campus in school colors. And Taryn, Rachel, and Prasanna used their math skills to run an after-school tutoring club for students at Dingeman Elementary School.

Dog-lovers Annika, Emily, and Quinn are working hard on their project. They will hold a Dog Walk on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Scripps Ranch Community Park to support Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS), a pet food pantry. Please join us. Email [email protected] for more information.

All of the girls of Cadette Troop 8430 learned a lot as they honed their leadership skills. Congratulations!
