Boys Win Tournament!
After going 3-0 in the San Diego Tournament, the NJB 5th Grade Boys All-Star Team headed to Las Vegas for the 5th Grade Invitational Tournament. In the first game the boys jumped out to a 13-0 lead over the Walnut Wildcats and cruised to an opening victory. Their second game was a hard fought victory over Newport Mesa.
After an evening at Ka and a morning at CSI: The Experience, the boys laced them up for a close semifinal victory over Los Alamitos. The championship game pitted the boys against Covina Valley, who found themselves down six with the ball and two minutes to play before the 5th graders from Scripps ran away with the championship game by 15. Great preparation and effort by the boys in bringing home the hardware and terrific memories!
Scripps Ranch Women’s Athletic Club
The Scripps Ranch Women’s Athletic Club (SRWAC) is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to provide the residents of Scripps Ranch and nearby communities with sports programs and sports-related support. The SRWAC offers basketball, volleyball, and soccer leagues throughout the year for women 25 years of age or older, as well as coed softball. Our fundraising and volunteer efforts are focused in Scripps: we provide scholarships annually for local high school senior girls, support youth and high school sports programs, and sponsor Symphony in the Park.
Coed Softball: A new 10-week coed softball league will be offered beginning Tuesday, June 25, and running through Tuesday, Aug. 27. Applications are being accepted for women and men 25 years and older of all abilities. Games are played Tuesdays at 7 pm. The cost is $50 for non-SRWAC members or $45 for members. Registration is on an individual basis. Teams are assigned prior to the first night of the league. For details and the registration form, please visit [www.srwac.org].
Scholarship Applications: Thanks to all the female high school seniors who submitted an application. We look forward to announcing the 2013 SRWAC scholarship recipients later this month.
Scripps Ranch Community Fair: We will have a booth at the Community Fair on Sunday, May 19. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have about the SRWAC and the sports leagues we offer. Please stop by and pick up a coupon for a discount for signing up a new player for one of our sports. Hope to see you there!
Scripps Ranch Soccer Club
Soccer season is upon us, which means it’s time to mark your calendars for important dates. The Scripps Ranch Soccer Club (SRSC) registration deadline is Saturday, June 15. If you have not yet registered, please visit our website at [www.scrippsranchsc.com] to complete the registration process online, including credit card payment. It is imperative that all players be timely registered for the 2013 soccer season.
The SRSC is a nonprofit organization run primarily through volunteer efforts. Our club’s success is largely due to the great sense of community spirit and valued support. With more than 1,500 children in our program, ranging from 5 to 19 years old, we field many recreational and competitive teams, which participate in the San Diego Presidio League.
Our club is dedicated to promoting youth soccer, encouraging the positive aspects of team sports, and developing skilled soccer players with a long-lasting love of the sport. To achieve our goals, we rely not only on the overwhelming volunteer efforts of our community but also upon the individual, local, and corporate sponsorship donations. Your donations help keep our registration fees affordable and contribute to ongoing equipment, maintenance, and field improvement needs. Our club also offers financial assistance to qualifying families.
We continue to value the long-lasting relationships with our loyal sponsors and hope new sponsors consider contributing to our program. We encourage all sponsors and potential sponsors to visit our website and see the exciting sponsorship opportunities available, including the opportunity to sponsor special events and additional benefits for our valued sponsors.
For more information about the SRSC, please visit [www.scrippsranchsc.com] or call the hotline at 974-5393.
