All-Stars Shine at National Tournament

Scripps Ranch National Junior Basketball (NJB) just finished a successful postseason run at the NJB All-Star tournaments. Scripps Ranch NJB fielded nine All-Star teams, with at least one boys team in each grade level from 3rd through 8th, and 4th and 6th grade girls teams. In the San Diego Sectional tournaments our teams were triumphant, coming in first in the boys 4th and 6th grades and the girls 4th and 6th grades.

The Boys 8th Grade All-Star Team completed a very successful postseason in Orange County as well. The boys finished as finalists—second place—in both Sectional and National tournaments by making it to the championship game. They lost by one point in the sectional and went into overtime before losing in the other.

Coach Brad Rodgers has coached many of these fine young men for several years in NJB All-Stars. He said they represent our community and their families with the highest level of sportsmanship and integrity while competing at a very high level! Congratulations to each of them, and we look forward to watching them continue to develop and compete at the high school level in coming years.

The Scripps Ranch NJB Girls 6th Grade All-Star Team had a victorious showing in the National tournament. The girls played against tough competition, in one thrilling game coming from behind to win by one point. They finished 4-0 and took home first place! Two players from the 4th grade girls team outshined other boys and girls in contests during opening ceremonies. Michelle made eight three-pointers in 30 seconds to place second in the three-point shooting contest. In the skills competition Laila took home the trophy for first place.

The Scripps Ranch NJB Board is thrilled our players and families had a successful All-Star season. We look forward to our players coming out again next season! To reach us, email [email protected]
