Championship Win for SRLL Team
Scripps Ranch’s Intermediate American All-Star team—boys ages 12 and 13 (right)—won the Southern California South Division Subdivision championship and the District 32 and Section 6 championships. The team placed in the top four in its division for all of California and in second place in its division for all of Southern California.
This is quite possibly the furthest any Scripps Ranch Little League (SRLL) Majors team has ever advanced. SRLL president Ryan Leighty searched as far back as 1975 and could not find any record of any SRLL Majors team—ages 11–12 and the team that heads to the Little League World Series—advancing beyond sectionals.
The team won 12 out of their 15 games. The boys played their last eight games in scenic Yucaipa, about a two-hour drive northeast of Scripps Ranch. Many parents and Scripps fans and friends made the four-hour round trip every day. The team manager was Joseph Foss, with coaches Frank Gebase and Rich Wasilewski. Congratulations on an amazing run!
12U Girls Win!
Congratulations to our Scripps Ranch Softball Association (SRSA) 12U Gold All-Star team that finished its season as the runner-up at the Western Nationals in Medford, Oregon. Teams had to qualify for Nationals by placing high enough in their state qualifying tournaments.
Thirty-nine teams qualified for Western Nationals that represented the following Amateur Softball Association (ASA) regions: SoCal, CentralCal, NorCal, Oregon, Washington, and Montana. These girls played on turf fields, battling through 109° air temperature—field temps over 165°!—rain, and smoke from wildfires! National runner-up is the highest any team from Scripps Ranch Softball has ever finished at Nationals! Congratulations to the players, coaches, parents, and families!
We also want to thank all of the families who donated to our team fundraiser at Board & Brew, and to the following businesses for their donations:
