SR Women’s Athletic Club Scholarship Recipients

The Scripps Ranch Women’s Athletic Club (SRWAC) congratulates Lilah Blalock, Molly Delzio, Samantha Fish, and Vanessa Wentworth, all 2017 graduates of Scripps Ranch High School, as this year’s college scholarship recipients. These impressive young women were selected based on their academic, athletic, and community service achievements. We wish them the best as they pursue their academic and career goals.

The SRWAC is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to provide the residents of Scripps Ranch and nearby communities with sports programs and sports-related support. The SRWAC offers basketball, volleyball, and soccer leagues throughout the year for women 25 years of age or older, as well as coed softball. Please visit www.srwac.org for more about our organization and registration details.

Basketball: The summer basketball league is underway. If you would like to play in our fall season on Monday nights at the SR Rec, please visit our website.

Soccer: The fall soccer season begins later this month. We play on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9 pm.

Scripps Ranch Pop Warner

Once again our Scripps Ranch Pop Warner (SRPW) football and cheer teams marched in the 4th of July Parade (below)!

The SRPW Board of Directors and coaches have been getting ready for the season. Conditioning camp for both football and cheer teams starts on Tuesday, Aug. 1, and continues for two weeks.

Our Opening Day festivities are in mid-August, and teams will have their first games in late August. Come watch us play at Scripps Ranch High School! For details and schedules, please visit www.scrippsranchpopwarner.com.

Registration for Scripps Ranch Lacrosse (SRLAX) Girls Fall Ball is now open. Interested girls in grades 5th through 8th are encouraged to register regardless of experience level. Soccer players and interested 4th graders with at least one season of experience are welcome as well.

Practices start by early September and will be on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 pm. Please email Grant Wenstrand at [email protected] to indicate interest and ask any questions.

SRLAX is looking to host a Fall Open House for girls new to lacrosse. Please check www.SRLax.org for details.

Scripps Ranch Soccer Club

We have a new website! The Scripps Ranch Soccer Club (SRSC) Board of Directors has been busy. Over the past few months we’ve embarked on a new communication and community development plan that includes a newly designed website. Please go to www.scrippsranchsc.com to get the latest news, announcements, and photos. Also, “Like” us on Facebook to receive updates.

Recreational soccer gets underway! We have more than 1,000 kids signed up to play recreational soccer this season. Practices start in early August, opening weekend is Saturday, Sept. 9, and our picture day and Socctoberfest is on Sunday, Oct. 1. Special thanks to all of our volunteer coaches, division reps, and rec soccer organizers, including Christina Macatee and John Colletto. Without all of these great Scripps Ranch parents and volunteers we could not be successful!

Competitive teams experience success! Our Scripps United competitive soccer teams have been busy practicing since May and have taken their share of tournament victories during the early part of the summer. By early July eight different teams had made it to tournament finals around San Diego County, with four winning their divisions and four being runners-up.

Congratulations to the: Girls 2004 Red, coached by Jeff Williamson; Boys 2004 Red, coached by Chris Tolles; Boys 2005 Red, coached by ChaCha Namdar; and Girls 2009 Red, coached by Chris Matthew. The SRSC is proud of all of our teams, and we look forward to a great season of soccer!
