Scripps Ranch Lacrosse

The Scripps Ranch Lacrosse Association (SRLAX) has exciting news as it gears up for its upcoming spring season.

Boys Grades 1–8: The boys program has a new director, Russ Olsen, a member of the San Diego State University (SDSU) and U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Coach Russ led the Boys Grade 5–6 team to the championship game in May, which ended in a tie. Russ has more than 35 years of experience playing and coaching lacrosse, including two state championships with two different teams. Russ set the all-time scorer record as an SDSU player, which stands today. SRLAX is very excited to have Coach Russ lead our program!

Boys lacrosse is a cross between basketball, soccer, and hockey. It is the fastest growing sport in America! The league is a recreational program for all abilities in grades 1–8. The season runs February through May. Practices are during the week at Marshall Middle School and games are on the weekend throughout San Diego County. For more news, visit us on Facebook at “Scripps Ranch Boys Lacrosse,” check out our website at www.srlax.org, or email Carl at [email protected] for more information.

Girls Grades 3–8: The girls fall off-season has been a great success. The spring season runs February through June. Practices are at Marshall Middle School and games are throughout San Diego County. Registration opens in December. Check out www.srlax.org or email Greg Alioto at [email protected] for details.

Register for the 2019 Season

The Fall Instructional Baseball League is a chance for the kids to keep their skills sharp through the off season. This year 140 kids enjoyed fall baseball. Come watch a game this Sunday before Fall Ball finishes on Sunday, Nov. 18.

The 2019 Scripps Ranch Little League (SRLL) registration starts earlier than usual. It opens on Sunday, Nov. 4, and we ask that you please complete your registration prior to mid-December. Please check our website at www.scrippsranchll.org for details on walk-in registration.

Please consider volunteering, as this is a volunteer-driven league. We need to fill positions including coaches, managers, and board members. If you have questions, email us at [email protected] or visit our website or Facebook page.

A Great Season

As the season winds down the Scripps Ranch Soccer Club (SRSC) would like to congratulate our 1,200 players and parents on a successful season. We could not have done it without our sponsors, community partners, coaches, referees, Park and Recreation Department, and the hundreds of volunteers who made this a fun and rewarding season for our kids. Thank you!

One of those volunteers is Greg Jones, who has been involved with us since 1987. He’s been a coach, competitive manager, member of the board of directors, and is still involved today. This year Greg got to see his granddaughter, Claire, play her first year of soccer for the Rock Stars in our recreational league. Congratulations to Brittany Jones Christopher—mom and former SRSC player—Greg, and Claire (below) on three generations of Scripps soccer and passing the love of the beautiful game onto the next generation!

Scott Brown, SRSC President
