Have you noticed a difference in the fields this season? Well, the Scripps Ranch Softball Association (SRSA) has invested to make sure we have some of the best fields in the city.

Sponsorships for the 2013 season are a great way to get your name and logo in front of hundreds of Scripps Ranch residents and support the all-volunteer youth softball sports organization. We still have several levels for you to choose from to fit your budget. For more information on how you can participate as a sponsor, please visit our website or contact Brady Hamilton at 395-1030.

Scripps Ranch Pop Warner Football and Cheer

It’s time to sign up for Scripps Ranch Pop Warner (SRPW) football and cheer! If your child is 5-7 years old and interested in playing flag football or 7-15 years old and would like to play tackle football, now is the time to sign up. We also have cheer squads for 5- to 15-year-olds! This is a good chance for your child to learn the fundamentals of football and cheer, learn about discipline and team work, and it’s a great way to get in shape!

You must go online to register. Visit [] and click on the “Register Online” button. You will need to print out your forms and bring them with the needed paperwork to sign-ups. Our registration dates are Saturday, Apr. 13, from 9 am to 2 pm and Tuesday, Apr. 23, from 5 to 8 pm at the Scripps Ranch Recreation Center. We will collect all necessary paperwork, weigh players, fit them for uniforms and equipment, and have nurse practitioners on-site to do physicals.

Your child’s birth certificate and a current 2×3 color photo are required. We strongly recommend all players sign up in the lowest weight and age division possible. A child’s age on July 31 is his age for the season. We will have teams in all divisions from Flag to Midget.

We look forward to seeing all of our returning players and many new faces at our sign-ups. For information on SRPW, please visit our website. Go Falcons!

New Coach Welcomed

Scripps Water Polo Club is excited to announce that Chris Love, who has coached at the college, high school, and club levels and has taken a team to the California state championship, is its new head coach. Coach Love comes to Scripps from the Aloha Athletics/Cupertino Water Polo Club, and he has relationships with teams around the world. He has coached men and women and was assistant coach at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, when its women’s team was ranked third in the nation.

He said his goal is to make Scripps “a national powerhouse that is looked at by all the top colleges for scholarships.” “As someone who grew up playing water polo, I already knew Scripps had a national reputation,” he said. “When I heard they were looking for a head coach to work with some of these great athletes and kids, that was very appealing. It’s great to have so many people supporting me and helping this club succeed.”

Coach Love has a degree in kinesiology, exercise, and sports science. He will take over the 18-under, 16-under, and grommet–pre-high school–teams this spring. He succeeds Victor Jensen, a former Brazilian national player who returned home for family reasons. Coach Love looks forward to meeting boys and girl interested in this exciting sport. Scripps Ranch Women’s Athletic Club

The Scripps Ranch Women’s Athletic Club (SRWAC) is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to provide the residents of Scripps Ranch and nearby communities with sports programs and sports-related support. The SRWAC offers basketball, volleyball, and soccer leagues throughout the year for women 25 years of age or older, as well as coed softball. Our fundraising and volunteer efforts are focused right here in Scripps Ranch: we provide several scholarships annually for local high school senior girls, support youth and high school sports programs, and sponsor Symphony in the Park.

A new 10-week basketball season will be offered beginning Monday, Apr. 22. This recreational league is open to women ages 25 and older and of all skill levels and abilities. Games are played Monday nights at 6 pm, 7 pm, or 8 pm at the Scripps Ranch Recreation Center. The cost is $80 for non-SRWAC members or $70 for members.

Registration is on an individual basis. Teams are assigned prior to the first night of the league and new players are required to attend open gym on Monday, Apr. 1, 8, or 15 for skill assessment and team placement. For details, please visit our website at [].
