Scripps United G-U9 Brings Home the Gold

The Scripps United G-U9 soccer team coached by Kevin Stenzel ended their season by winning the Presidio Cup tournament held in Coronado in January. Top teams from all over the county competed fiercely for the championship, but no one could beat Scripps.

The team gave it their all as usual and came home undefeated with gold medals. The victory at Presidio resulted in an end-of-season total of five medals for five tournaments plus two silver medals for two 3-vs-3 tournaments. Contributing to the team’s success were Lauren Collins, Nicole Diehl, Phoebe Gurrola, Lucy Lacosta, Lia Madbak, Shannon McManus, Sarah Meister, Allison Ross, Karly Ryner, Kelli Steckler, and Torrey Westfall

A special thanks goes to the team manager Ailene McManus for all of the time and energy she contributed during the season. Congratulations to the girls and Coach Kevin for an outstanding season!
