Soccer-Boys Under 11 Red In Tournament Finals Again!

Coming off the great victory two weeks ago in the Pegasus Cup Tournament, the Scripps United Boys Under-11 Red team once again reached the finals, this time at the Peninsula Albion Cup tournament held July 21-23 at Rob Field. After defeating the CV Rangers, Irvine Lasers, and tying the Escondido Eclipse, our Scripps United team proceeded to defeat the Hotspurs United in the semi finals 4-0. In the Monday final Scripps United lost a close one to the Eclipse, and proudly accepted a beautiful silver medal at the closing ceremonies. Despite missing three players on Monday our boys played 60 long minutes of inspired soccer. Key to our tournament success was a team comprised of Michael Crimi, Kyle Dickerson, Brett Dudley, Nicholas Guerra, Eric Leon, Yoel Lustgarten, Greg Moy, Bryan Niemiec, Adam Philips, Niko Podimatis, Dennis Roth, Nicolas Schauffele, Daniel Tarantino, Michael Adsit, and Austin Dickerson. A special thank you to Assistant Team Manager David Niemiec, Coach Heibat Seyf, and Austin Dickerson. Austin plays on the Scripps United Boys Under-10 team and agreed to fill in for our vacationing team members. Once again, great teamwork and a great tournament.

Girls Under-9 Soccer Champs!

The Scripps United Girls Under-9 soccer team led by Coach Kevin Stenzil blasted through their first tournament at the Albion Cup in Ocean Beach, July 21-23. They went undefeated to the finals where they fought a tough battle against the Sharks. Scripps placed second in the tournament and came home with silver medals. At their second tournament, the Encinitas Rotary Cup held Aug. 11-13, they were a force that could not be stopped. Scripps was the wild card team going into the semi-finals where they beat Encinitas Express. In sweltering heat and humidity the team gave it their all against the Surf in the finals. Scripps defeated the Surf 2 to 1 to capture the championship. Congratulations to the team and to Coach Kevin Stenzil!
