We as a community experienced the devastation of wildland fires in 2003 where more than 200 homes were destroyed. Since then the City has changed some of its ordinances and regulations in effort to make our community safer. The police and fire departments work not only closer together but with Calfire and MCAS Miramar. How insurance companies sell insurance, assess risk and handle claims have also changed since 2003.

This forum will hold three expert panels and a vendor fair to help residents be better prepared for not if, but when the next disaster occurs. We have broken up the three different interest panels. The first panel will address city and school district fire prevention, reaction and evacuation issues. The second panel will focus on state and Federal response. The last panel will talk about consumer protection and personal responsibility. Whether you have lived in Scripps Ranch before 2003 or you are new, this forum will be educational.
